EU - Security
bill: the European Commission waits for due changes from Italy's
government 20-Nov-2008 [en] |
|||
The European Commissionary on Justice, Freedom and
Security Jacques Barrot will ask Italian authorities to make clear "the
schedule" of needed changes to the security bill that introduced the
figure of immediate rejection and the aggravation of clandestinity for
illegal immirants that commit a crime. Commissioner Barrot said as much to
the European Parliament in his written answer to a question posed by European
MPs Marco Cappato and Marco Pannella. In his answer, remembering that last
September 23 this norm was found "incompatible with community law"
if applies to EU citizens, Barrot announced that "the Commission will
ask Italian authorities to make clear the schedule that is being contemplated
for the introduction of these changes". Regarding the application of
these measures to citizens of third countries, Barrot answered Cappato and
Pannella that the EU "is not comptenet to act on the subject". (Rai 3
Tg3-12:00, Rai 3 Tg3-14:20, Radio Popolare GrPopolare-15:30, La 7 Otto e
mezzo.20:30). |
