Collective complaint No. 58/2009

by the Centre on Housing Rights and Evictions (COHRE) against Italy

The Committee of Ministers,[1]

 

Having regard to Article 9 of the Additional Protocol to the European Social Charter providing for a system of collective complaints,

 

Taking into consideration the complaint lodged on 29 May 2009 by the Centre on Housing Rights and Evictions (COHRE) against Italy;

 

Having regard to the report transmitted by the European Committee of Social Rights, in which it found several violations of Article E of the Revised Social Charter taken in conjunction with Articles 31§1, 31§2, 31§3, 16, 19§1,19§4 c and 19§8;

 

1.             Takes note of the statement made by the respondent government[2] and the information it has communicated[3] on the follow-up to the decision of the European Committee of Social Rights and welcomes the authorities’ commitment to ensure the effective implementation of the rights deriving from the revised European Social Charter for every individual, including for persons belong to the Roma communities.

 

2.             Looks forward to Italy reporting that, at the time of the submission of the next report concerning the relevant provisions of the revised European Social Charter, the situation is in full conformity with the revised European Social Charter.
