Duration: 9
months
General Function:
Under the general supervision of
the Chief of Mission, the direct management and guidance of the Programme
Manager and the Project Officer, the incumbent will coordinate the development
and start-up phase of implementation of Counter-Trafficking focused Information
Campaigns and Media activities.
S/he is responsible
for the creation and design of media plans and information campaigns that
support IOM Counter Trafficking programmes in the state or region to which
assigned. In particular, the incumbent will be directly involved in the
supervision of organizational and logistical functions.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate existing strategies
with an eye to continuous improvement, as well as conduct research,
analyze and interpret results of previous surveys undertaken by the
involved missions;
- Develop key messages and
design a variety of support media and materials;
- Manage delivery and ongoing
maintenance of specific messages, as well as the development of
communication strategies that take advantage of multiple formats (posters,
press, radio and video programs, face-to-face, etc.);
- Assists in the planning,
coordination, development of short and long-term communications goals and
plans of internal and external communication strategies, tactics,
activities and publications;
- Coordinate and manage the
dissemination and updating of produced material;
- Systematize
an appropriate evaluation mechanism and supervise appropriate reporting
mechanisms;
- Assist in managing the
planning and facilitation of media related meetings and presentations;
- In cooperation with the Trafficking and Training
consultants, manage the elaboration and development of training concepts and
modules for the media and deliver training to selected media;
- Advise senior staff on
Information Campaign issues as well as identify strategic issues that need
to be addressed by the involved missions;
- Ensure the implementation of
the media relations component. Use writing and communication tactics,
creativity and problem-solving skills to achieve best practices in media
relations.
- Cultivate and maintain
relationships with key members of the local/regional media as required;
- Serve as spokesperson where
appropriate and approved by direct supervisors;
- Coach and
prepare spokespeople prior to media contacts;

Desirable Qualifications:
- University Degree
in communications, PR or a related field;
- A minimum of 5
years communications experience OR an equivalent combination of experience
and education.
International experience Ð a plus;
- Proven experience in
Information Campaigns and/or Media activities;
- Prior experience in the
Balkans, specifically in Kosovo and FRY Macedonia highly desirable;

Knowledge of
the fields of Trafficking in Human Beings, Migration, Refugee issues and/or
Development is a plus.
