European call for dignity
:
Every day,
African migrants die at European
borders: they have had the audacy to believe that they could live there in
peace and in dignity. In Ceuta, in
Melilla, the situation reached
an
intolerable threshold: a wall of barbed wires is drawn between the European
Union and Africa and security guards do not hesitate to shoot, even if it means to
kill, so as to avoid that this wall be crossed. Even in Morocco, a real hunting
has been organized. Children, women, men, thirsty and famished, are tracked and
leaved alone in the desert.
Can we
tolerate that the European Union denies its moral duty to hear, at least, the
request for those which come to seek asylum? How can such a treatment be
possible ? In the name of the
migratory flows' regulation, how could the European policy lead Spain to
close its borders by setting up a wall as if it were besieged by a frightening
enemy?
How does
the European Union dare discharge its responsibilities on third countries, in
this case Morocco and let it send the migrants without reacting?
As they try
to enter in the territory of the European Union, they crossed by foot hundreds of kilometres, putting at risk
their only good, their life. Can we accept that those who flee poverty,
political wars and conflicts are answered to with repression, and even death,
as they try, in a ultimate collective action, to cross a wall of barbed wires
which is drawn up between them and freedom ?
This
situation, as absurd as it is inhuman, giving such an vision of Europe and that
televisions show daily, must cease.
Today, we
call solemnly :
…
The
Spanish government, the members States governments and the European Commission
to end with these massive and repeated
violations of Human rights. They are the direct consequence of a migratory
policy focused on the closing and externalisation, leading only to a dead end
and violence ;
…
The
Moroccan government
To
cease such inhuman treatments which lead to death those who simply pass on its
territory with the aim to find, in Europe, the resolution of their poverty,
…
The
European Union
To set, right now, a real immigration and
asylum policy, respectful of the human rights, dignity and integrity of each human being.
Migrants, such as every person, have the right
to be considered in the respect of the international conventions: human rights
can not be discarded and concern everyone.
