Position Title                     :        Legal Assistant

Type of appointment : Special all-inclusive contract, duration nine months, renewable

Under the general supervision of the Director, Regional Office for the Mediterranean and Chief of Mission in Italy and the direct supervision of the Head of the Central Service/SID Unit and the Responsible for the Identification Centres, the incumbent will be responsible for the following activities:

• · Assistance to the local authorities for the setting up of services as foreseen by art. 11 para 2 DPRs 303/04;
• · Legal advice to local authorities’ operators supplying the above mentioned services.
• · Drafting of the guidelines for services as foreseen by art. 11, para 2 DPRs 303/04;
• · Editing of the legal contents of the Operational Manual, specifically addressing the services as foreseen by art. 11
• · Editing of an asylum seekers’ "vademecum"
• · Periodic visits to the Identification Centres in order to give technical support and monitoring for the above services;
• · regularly reporting to the Responsible for the Identification Centres on objectives achieved, problems encountered during the implementation phase and possible solutions or actions to be taken;

· Perform other duties may be assigned.

Desirable Qualifications            Education, experience and     personal qualities:

University degree in Law. Experience in Identification Centres as regards legal counseling/orientation for asylum seekers. At least 3 years of experience in migration related legal activities. Personal commitment, initiative, flexibility, efficiency and respect for diversity. Drive for results. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.

Languages

Italian, good knowledge of English
