Position Title                     :        Project Assistant

Type of appointment : Special all-inclusive contract, duration nine months, renewable

Under the general supervision of the Director, Regional Office for the Mediterranean and Chief of Mission in Italy and the direct supervision of the Head of the Central Service/SID Unit and the Operational Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for the following activities:

• Entering new users in the database regarding newly funded projects in 2007.

• Monitoring of data on migrants present in a specific area and relevant registration of asylum seekers unaccompanied minors in the Protection System Network.

• Preparing the cards regarding the services offered by all projects, to be attached to the final report on 2006 activities.

• Maintaining close communication with the Projects in order to obtain the quarterly cards for the monitoring of 2006 migrants’ presence and services.

• Making reminders to those Projects who do not comply with deadlines on database’s update.

• perform other duties as may be assigned

Desirable Qualifications            Education, experience and     personal qualities:

University degree in Sociology. Experience in immigration issues. Experience in matters related to refugees and asylum seekers., project management and Central Service’s database management. Personal commitment, initiative, flexibility, efficiency and respect for diversity. Drive for results. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.

Languages

Italian, good knowledge of English
